Background:

Pandora sees herself as an intelligent, witty person who always knows what’s she up against, and is looked up upon by all she meets. She sees herself as being very open-minded about many things, and feels she’s ready to tackle new challenges as quickly as they appear.

How others see her:

Those who know her, see Pandora as a very shy, but strangely hyperactive person with a strange personality disorder causing her change moods quicker than most people blink. One second, she’ll be as happy as Baccus in a wine cellar, and the next second, she’ll been downright miserable, and refuse to speak to anyone. And when she speaks, she seems so unsure of herself, sometimes stuttering, sometimes stopping in the middle of a subject and going into another completely different one. And she always seems to be hiding something. If anyone bothers to look at her for more than a few seconds, she’ll quickly become defensive asking, "What are you looking at?". She also doesn’t like to be touched, even harmless things, like handshakes, or a pat on the back will send her backing up. And mentally she’s just as bad. Those who even ask simple things like how she’s doing, will get a dirty look or a quick response, mostly she’ll say nothing until repeatedly asked. Even with all her hang-up’s, if someone’s determined enough, and takes it slow enough, they’ll find a way to break through Pandora’s defenses, will find a very loving, if somewhat overprotective friend for life. During her recent travels, the *constant battles and loss of friends has slowly started to break the young girl. Thankfully she always had her mentor and friend, Rend to keep her going. Now that he is out of her life, things can only get rougher for the girl.

Character History

Pandora Tubilderborst was born in the Isle of Fawn, which was located near a slightly larger island, named Moray. These islands were part of a large group, known as the "Moonshae Isles". The island, once home to the pirate/adventurer, "Bloodnose". Apparently, after he retired, he got rather lonely, so he decided to open the place up as a 'retirement home' for his friends and anyone else who could make it to the island. As time went by, and with the installation of a light house, young families fleeing the horrors that were going on in the east decided to come to the island and make it their home. Both her parents Molonay (Her Father) and Tanya (Her Mother) worked in the fletchers and shared the love of the making and usage of bows. Unfortunately, Pandora did not, as a matter of fact; she hated the damned things after she attempted to make one when she was six. She didn't tie the bowstring correctly and it snapped in her face, forever ending an exciting career as a bower/Fletcher. Thankfully she had an uncle named Churm, who was into the wizardry arts when he wasn't passed out drunk or in the process of getting drunk, who lived down the street. He would teach the youth the great art! After what seemed an eternity, she spun her first spell, which was a "Stirring" cantrip. She managed a more useful spell one year later and acquired Churm's spellbook he passed on (Even a great wizard needs his liver). Feeling somewhat useful in the world around her, Pandora decided to become a famous-wizard-hero like the ones in her books, and decided to leave Fawn for adventure! So she packed what belongings she had and left (without her parents' knowledge) on a ship that took her far from her horribly boring homeland. During the sea voyage though the 'Sea Of Swords', the ship ran into what some were calling, "A Magic Storm!". The poor vessel was torn to pieces, and Pandora was thrown into the sea where she managed to float to dry land with the help of a coffin. She made it to a small, but heavily fortified keep known as "Candlekeep", where she was denied entrance, but given food, water, dry clothes, and a map to the nearest town of "Beregost". Tymora's nasty brother, 'Old Man Dirty Rotten Luck' decided to play a nasty trick on her, and she ended up getting terribly lost. So much so, she didn't even notice anything different after she walked onto a bit of old magic that transported her into the middle of the famous, lost city of Myth Drannor. (She had blundered onto a teleportation panel that was once surrounded by an wizard's tower. Both the wizard and his tower were lost many centuries ago, but the strong magic kept the panel in one piece, and any wizard who would trod upon it, would be instantly transported to the great city, and the panel to return was buried under a hundred years of debris.) Almost immediately she encountered a group of adventurers known as "Menagerie". The group was hired to recover a silver bell that was stolen from a church in a small village near Essembra. After encountering some strange undead beasts, the group had managed to get itself somewhat lost in the grand, but dead city. Finding Pandora made things rather difficult for them, but they already had managed to find the bell, so it was just left to them to find a way back out of the ruins. During the trip, Pandora managed to bond with the group’s cleric, a young half-elf named Arilyn who before their meeting, was seen as somewhat of a miserable arse. Once the two became friends, her personality nearly matched the young wizard’s; pleasing the rest of the group who was getting somewhat tired of the miserable, whiney priestess.

Just as things were starting to get better, and group was nearly out of the city, they ran into very angry lich and a small group of his beholder "buddies". The "battle" lasted barely a minute, and Pandora was severally wounded during it all, and saw all of her companions tortured and slaughtered before her very eyes. The lich made sure she saw it all, keeping her body immovable with the help of a spell, and keeping her eyes open with another. Once they were finished, he decided it would be a far worse fate to let her live, then kill her right-out. Once he retook the bell, he smiled at the girl, nodded at his beholder companions, and was soon gone from sight with the help of a teleportation spell.

She was still clutching Arilyn’s body and sobbing uncontrollably when Harpers found her hours later. She never told anyone of her experience, and probably never will. During the battle, Pandora was attacked by a strange, bone covered creature the undead mage summoned on her, after-all, she by far, the weakest of the group, and most undeserving of he or the beholder's personal attention. The creature easily avoided her spells, and took down the girl, clawing, and biting her. Before the lich removed the creature, Pandora suffered bite wounds to her left arm, and scratches on her stomach. Even with the Harper’s help, several scars still remain, and are always covered by something, usually her bracers for her arm, and the thick robe for her stomach. She tries to avoid looking at the wounds herself, as it only brings back horrible memories. Refusing to tell the Harpers where she came from, they decided it would be best to send her to a boarding house of some kind in a village near Battledale. Most of the children staying there were orphans, the type who were either abandoned due to mix-breeding (Half-Elves, Half-Orcs, etc), or lost their parents due to some war or disease. She stayed there only for a week, before heading out on her own. She wanted to gain revenge against the murderer of her friends, and decided she would form her own adventuring group, just like the books, and destroy the evil fiends. Of course, nobody took her very seriously, and after a few months she gave up, and hitched a ride to the quite farming town of Shadowdale, where she heard very little in the ways of excitement happened there. So she moved in, and managed to get a job at a small bookstore. During the first year she lived there, she kept mostly to herself, and was rarely seen outside of her home or the shop. Finally, a druid/farmer/adventurer/etc named Trawlats, who happened to be at the wrong place years ago during the "Times Of Trouble" battles that were going on in Shadowdale. He managed to walk into an area of "Wild Magic" as an elf , but came out looking like a cross between a human and a fox. Being a very easy-going person, he took it in stride, after all, he knew several people who walked into such things and came out in far worse shape. Some came out of these traps inside out, some came out in different pieces, and some didn’t come out at all. He spotted the mage-ling while checking out a few books, and felt pity for the girl. Feeling up for a challenge, he spent the next few months, slowly getting to know her, and finally was able to break through her defenses, and become friends with her. And slowly after that, he was able to introduce her to his own group of companions. Hardly adventurers this time, most of them were farmers, with the exception of an older wizard, who decided out of the goodness of his heart (and current state of boredom), to take her in, and train her to become a proper wizard, as he would say. Churm managed to miss a few things during her original lessons, and her new teacher managed to get her confidence levels up somewhere near "normal", but she still threw a thick wall up when it came with dealing with new people. Years passed, and Pandora slowly drifted away from the study of magic, and instead devoted her life to her job and the few friends she managed to make in Shadowdale. She learned a few things from her companions such as new language (Elven), and how to properly handle a horse. She was getting better, but a life of an adventurer had long left her mind, and she was rather content on staying in Shadowdale for the rest of her life. But after hearing her favorite author Volo was to be at some big get-together down in Daerlun, signing books, lecturing, and tasting all what Darelun had to offer. Her boss, an middle-aged woman named Pauline decided this would be a good opportunity to get the girl out of her hair for a few days, and gave her the necessary coins to purchase both a ticket to Darelun and for the event itself. There, Pandora could finally meet her idol, and pick up a few orders as well. Feeling the same amount of joy she felt the day she left Fawn, she bid farewell to her friends, particularly Trawlats who promised to take care of her place while she was gone, as he liked her pond, and he wouldn’t have to put up his dwarven neighbors near his old house who were up all times of the night with their bang’n. Ugh. So this is where the game begins, Pandora took some supplies, a copy of Volo’s newest book, and caravan (Or what other safe way up) to Darelun, and prayed to any god who would hear her that she wouldn't run into anything nasty, and no adventurers!

Things went rather smoothly during the first part of her stay in Darelun. She booked a night in a local Inn, and worked on her plans for the following day, which went along as well as she'd hoped. She got to meet Volo, and get the books ordered as instructed, however things started to take a turn for the worse during the night. When she met a young bard who went by the name of Conner. He seemed friendly at first, entertaining the crowd with his stories and songs. Once his show was finished, he made his move towards Pandora. He offered her a chance to join him, which she politely turned down. This did not sit well with the bard. The following morning, the girl found herself in prison cell instead of the room she had rented. Obviously the gods hasn't listened to her prayers. (See Book Of Pandora for more details). After leaving the prison, everything went even further downhill from there. Pandora ran into a few new friends during her trip back, and later joined a caravan that would eventually make its way to Shadowdale. In the caravan, she made a friend out of a dwarven warrior named Rend, who became her mentor as well. After a few run-ins, she decided she would learn from him, and become a warrior. With his skills, she believed she would never be helpless again. If only that were so easy. During their travels, he taught her how to use her traveling staff as a deadly weapon, and even managed to help her conquer her fears of the bow. As they got closer to Shadowdale, of the caravan guards betrayed the group during a watch, and slew a few of their members and left the group in shambles before taking off with a close friend of Pandora's, the group's healer, Ambarion. With a new quest before them, those who survived Ygurd's attack (the betrayer) decided to hunt him down and hopefully save the healer. They were able to track down the murderer to an long abandoned mind, where most of the group met a quick demise during a cave-in. Still devoted to finding their friend and putting an end to Ygurd, the few members of the caravan continued their way down into the dark mines. There they encountered a strange beast that chased them down the dark corridors and into an ancient library where a portal waited for them. Rend and one of the caravan guards was the first to enter the portal, Pandora was next. However, the moment she stepped into the portal, the monster that had been stalking them was able to break through the great doors, and slay the brave Sir Artur who was operating the portal's controls. Without someone to guide the portal’s magic, Pandora was sent somewhere beyond the room where the others were waiting for her..

This is the personal journal of one Pandora Tubilderborst.

Anyone caught reading this will be smacked silly.

And that goes DOUBLE to you, Trawlats!

Eleasias 25:

I actually had very little desires to bring my journal with me during this trip, after all, it was only gonna be for just a few days. However, my boss at the bookstore -demanded- I take some sort of diary with me , maybe a scrapbook I could make to collect all sorts of goodies. She even gave me this book for free, which is a kinda odd coming from ol’ Penny-Pinching-Pauline. Any-who, as I write this, I'm riding in this old covered wagon, and heading out of Shadowdale, where I'm gonna meet the world famous Volo, and pick up a few books Pauline wanted me to get, so this is actually sorta a business and pleasure trip. Beyond my current trip, nothing terribly exciting happened. Geez, this is so boring.

Eleasias 26:

Nothing of interest today. It’s actually kinda comfy riding in this, but it’s so boring and nobody really wants to talk. And to make maters worse, there’s an old gnome sitting across from me and he’s got this huge wart on his nose, even worse is that he’s got a very large hair growing out of it. I wonder if anyone has told him about it.

Eleasias 27:

Yes. Quite a few people have told him about it. Jerk.

Eleint 1:

Finally, we’re here! After what seemed like forever, we’re finally here. I’m writing this at the Golden Coach. It’s a rather pleasant little place. Right now it’s kinda late, so I’m gonna keep this short. Tomorrow night, I’m gonna meet the greatest traveler and storyteller that ever walked the land. I’m getting goose-pimples just thinking about it.

Eleint 2:

Wow! What a day! Spent the whole day listening to Volo’s stories..Sure, there were a few other people there, but Volo was the one who packed the room. After the stories, he signed books, and I got too actually talk with him. Gods! He was really sweet, a bit older and a bit chubbier than his picture on his last book, but still, I got to meet him. After that, I decided to head back to the Golden Coach for a bit of super. Once there I noticed they had an entertainer performing for the dinner-crowd. I was able to snatch a decent seat, and listened to the guy while having my meal. He wasn’t bad of course, after listening to the master at work, it wouldn’t be fair to judge this guy.. Who I later learned was named Conner Gates. After his little show, he stopped over at my table to chat with a girl who had taken the seat next to me, and of course myself. He seemed like an alright guy, but he was showing all the signs Sabrina used to warn me about. Even odder, he wanted me and this girl to join him now get this, in traveling caravan as guards! Me? Ha! I politely turned him down. After all, I do have a life and a job in Shadowdale. The girl on the other-hand was long in his pocket.. Poor thing probably spent the night with him as well. After that, it was in the sack, which I’m in right now. After some sleep, I need to head over to the book-shoppe and pick up the books Pauline had wanted, and I also need to write up an order for Volo’s next book, "Once Around The Realms". He was rather proud of his upcoming novel. Originally, he had planned to have copies available with him, but due to technical difficulties, the books would be late. I’m supposed to meet a Mister Passepout back at the shoppe and order a case of the books for the store. It should take awhile to come, but it’s well worth it. Even fussy-face Elminster himself is looking forward to a copy. He said he needed to read something funny for a change. Yesh! Everyone’s a critic. J

Eleint ???

This is so much. I don’t know what to write. While I was sleeping, I was kidnapped by someone..I have a feeling it was Conner. As I write this, I’m sitting in a somewhat tiny sort of cell. The guard had just tossed in my things, including this book. He must of drugged my drink, cause that’s the only way they could of got into my room and dragged me off. I would of awoken! I’m a light sleeper. So here I am..Waiting. I haven’t seen Conner yet, but I’m sure he’s somewhere, planning something horrible for me. Gods help me.

Eleint ???

This keeps getting weirder and weirder. I got the guard’s attention and started to talk with him. He was so strange, and so sad. And for no reason, well, there was some heated discussion, but anyways, he just let me go! He blind-folded me and lead me out from wherever I was placed in. Just like that. I wonder where Conner was at. Maybe Conner did something to him to make him betray him. As I’m writing this, I’m in the middle of godsknowwhere, and sitting by a fire. This strange fellow is across from me, watching me with those strange, blank eyes.

Eleint ???

It’s morning, and just as he told me he would be, he is gone. And I’m all alone, and I haven’t the slightest idea where I am. Guess this is it journal.

Eleint 20

Well, it’s been days since I’ve written, course it’s not like I had the time. After wandering by myself for days, I ran into a young halfling named Breeze, and a girl named Nika. They’re like night and day. Breezie is a very hyperactive gregarious sorta chatty-bit of a person, while Nika is sorta shy, and she blushes on the drop of a coin. After chatting, and finding out they were on the run, or something, we found our way to the city of Daerlun. Breeze rented a room, and some much need baths at this placed called the ‘Bitter Sword’. Finally, I could get some proper rest, and get my wits back together. Hopefully we can scrap up some money so I can head home, but it seems I’m rather far away.. I decided it might be for the best to head to Selgaunt. That’s where that kidnapping fiend Conner wanted to go..He’s probably there trying to lure more girls into his trap. Oddly enough we ran into a group of guys who worked for some caravan (What is with that?) company who just happened to be heading that way. Unlike Conner, these guys looked more trust-worthy.. Although this fella named Ambarion, struck me as rather odd. He even drew a cute little sketch of us three while we were eating. And along with the others, there was this strangest dwarf.. He was shaved bald, completely.. Maybe I should of asked him why, but now that I remember, dwarves who shave like that, are usually dishonored by their clan.. Or something. Anyways, things just couldn’t go all nice and easy for me..Nope. Just when I was starting to get comfortable in my chair, these guys burst into tavern, holding this guy, who I later learned was named Dravnor. Anyways as soon as he came in, I noticed this creepy little guy get all nervous and flee the room. For some odd reason, I decided to take it upon myself to follow this guy. Thankfully the others followed. The wounded man was quickly patched up by this great big fella of a priest who joined us at our table. To make a very long story short, quite abit happened after this. Lots of running, screaming, and later two fallen guys. One was that creepy guy, the other was a guard. After this, I was escorted back to the inn. As I write this, I’m about to get some sleep. First time I’ve slept in a bed for days. I hope Breezie and Nika are alright.

Eleint 21

Gods my life gets odder by the day. Had another dream about undead..Like those that attacked me years ago. This can’t be a good sign. As soon as I awoke, I saw Breeze, she was playing with one of Nika’s boots. It seems she was taken away by some group that Breeze had ticked off. The only thing we had was the symbol inscribed onto the boot. I decided it would be me who would find out what the symbol means. Breeze wasn’t much help. So as things tend to happen, while we were heading over to the market place, horrible monsters decided to pop in for a few bites. Will my life ever be ‘normal’ again? I was utterly useless in the fight, which isn’t a shock, but that dwarf Rend. He fought like an army! Even when he lost his weapon, he kept at it, until the monsters were stopped, or destroyed. Actually, now that I think about it, I did some good in battle. I was able to trick a few of the monsters into running into each other. I think..But Rend was the true hero of the scene. Even after all the torture the beast did to him,Rend returned kept at it..Damn, he’s good. After Rend was fixed up,and we all got some rest, the whole lot of us headed to this guy named Unaren the Elder. I showed him the symbol on the boot, and he showed me the door. He had to spend some time with the symbol. Hours later, we popped over again, and he stated that it belonged to some death-cult called the "Brother Hood." That can’t be good.

Eleint 26:

Yeah. Once again, its been ages since I’ve written. Just nothing much has gone on. We’re off to Mulhessen. I believe------

Eleint 29:

I don’t know what to do..While writing my journal, I feel asleep. Got ink all over..Then I woke to some horrible screaming, and before I could even blink, there was pain..blood, and then darkness..When I awoke, it was the 29th, and poor Breezie was taken away from me. I’ve never considered myself a crier, but that day I couldn’t stop. She and another man were killed during a battle against some sort of bat-things..I was told she fought bravely..My respect for Ambarion grows even deeper..He healed me up as good as new..Not even a scar, well, I do feel one on my heart..something he’ll never heal..Even though I only knew her for a short time, I felt a strong bond between her..Is this gonna happen to everyone I care for now?

Eleint 30:

I’m finding it rather hard to write..The group hired two men to replace the fallen.. Two mercenaries.. One named Alec, and a rather cold-fish named Ygurd. Typical of their type, they're all muscles and no personality. Oddly enough, I’ll be doing some guard work myself during the ceremonies tomorrow. Looks like I’ve decided I’m gonna be a warrior like Rend. He’ll train me, and soon, I’ll be nearly as good as he. My first real ‘warrior test’ came after I had purchased my new gear. I was heading back to the inn, when a couple of guys tried to pull me into an alleyway. Again, ol’ Sabrina’s words of wisdom popped in. No way in hell was I gonna go down with a fight..And fight I did. While I ended up bruised and dizzy after the fight, two of my attackers were laying on the ground looking far worse than I, and another was running off with slightly soggy trousers. Thankfully a few guards were close by to nab ‘em, and help me out. Rend is gonna be proud. And as always, Amber was there to fix me up.

Higharvestide:

Finally, a somewhat peaceful day. We did the whole guard-thing without any problems. I think most thieves noticed Rend’s dirty looks and decided to head for some easier targets. After that, we took in some light entertainment. I still believe nobody holds a candle to Volo, but this gal was a good entertainer and Amber really got a kick out of her. Guy blushed more than poor Nika.

Some mess went on with a bird getting fried, but I was so wrapped up on my soon to be upcoming future as a warrior, I just didn’t care.

Marpenoth 1:

Just lots of boring travel. Rend got me to drink some sorta ‘warrior drink’. Tasted kinda like prune juice that an ogre had spit out right into my mouth. I had to show the ol’ dwarf and the whole lot of them that I was tough enough. Gods I feel so sick.

Marpenoth 10:

Again. Nothing much to report. Lots of travel, but I’m getting some lessons from Rend. And I see Amber is writing a journal like I am..At least I think he’s doing it. As always, he’s a savior, especially after one of Rend’s lessons..Shame Amber’s so much older than me.. Looks like things are finally starting to brighten up.
