Giant Killers can Dodge Attacks: Save vs Death Magic and attack misses

Infuriate: A Giant Killer can goad a giant into making careless and ill-conceived attacks. To infuriate a giant, the Giant Killer spends two rounds darting between the giant's legs, waving his hands, and hollering insults. The Giant Killer cannot make attacks or take any other actions while attempting to infuriate the giant; if interrupted (to dodge, for example), he must start over. During this time, the giant can attack the Giant Killer; however, because of the Giant Killer's erratic movement, the giant's attacks are made at an additional -2 penalty. At the end of this period, the giant makes a saving throw vs. spells. If the throw succeeds, nothing special happens. If the throw fails, the giant becomes enraged for the next 2-12 (2d6) rounds. During that time, the giant directs all of his attacks against the Giant Killer; the giant's attacks are made at an additional -4 penalty. The Giant Killer may attack normally while the giant is infuriated.

Giant Lore: If a Giant Killer discovers a footprint, lair, campsite, or any other physical evidence of a giant, a successful Wisdom roll enables him to learn some general information about the giant in question. Such information may include the giant's type, approximate size, and companions. He may also learn how recently the giant was in the area and in what direction the giant traveled. The DM decides the quality and amount of information the Giant Killer receives

Background:

Cedric was born and raised in the Deepingdale.  He lived peacefully like most of the dale folk, working the timber trade with his family.  Every moment he could was spent fishing the Glaemril and exploring – the Arch Wood, Semberholme and even on occasion the northern Thunder Peaks.  His life changed dramatically at age 16 when, on the way to visit family in Thunderstone, his mother, father and sister were killed by a band of Ogres that attacked the caravan; Cedric, wandering the forest at the time, was devastated and plagued by guilt for not being with his family to help defend them.

Cedric was convinced the band of Ogres were in the area on the way to join the dreaded Storm King, an evil cloud giant with a stronghold in the southern Thunder Peaks.   He summoned several friends and Tyrakor, a Priest of Tyr who happened to be tracking the same Ogres, and out after the beasts.  After several days of Cedric tracking, the group located and attacked the Ogres, slaying two of them before being forced to retreat.  Cedric was wounded badly in the neck.  Tyrakor healed Cedric, and kept him company during the recovery.  Tyrakor saw the vengeance building in Cedric as the young man swore to one day take the fight to the Storm King.  Tyrakor tried to convince Cedric how this could lead to trouble, but the Priest knew he was losing the argument.

Cedric’s Uncle Leric, shocked by his nephew’s foolish attempt, was equally shocked by Cedric’s ability to track the Ogres and survive the battle, much less help slay two of them.  Once recovered, Leric sent him away to be trained in the way of the Rangers, and Tyrakor went his separate way.  While in training, Cedric vowed to seek revenge one day on the Storm King for the death of his parents.  He learned the ways of the giants, how to fight them and exploit their weaknesses&ldots; he became a Giant Killer.  He headed south, past Cormyr, into the Dragon Coast and took up residence in Elversult.  From there, he was able to join up with various adventuring parties that were bound for the Giant’s Run Mountains, the Giant Plains and Troll Mountains, making a name for himself helping them slay troublesome Hill Giants. After three years, Cedric decided to return home to the Deepingdale for some rest.  His travels brought him north into Cormyr, where he heard word of fire giants that had raided a village.  This peaked his curiosity, for he had never battled a fire giant.  He learned of the party of adventurers, and decided to follow them and join up if it offered a chance to kill fire giants. He has trailed them from Cormyr, to Tilverton to Shadowdale, and is currently staying at the Old Skull.
