General Description:
Adrienne is a very plain-looking girl, with a long freckled face, blue eyes and plain straight brown hair. She has a slender figure with angular curves and long, graceful hands. Despite being entirely unremarkable in appearance Adrienne has a natural ease that draws people to her, so she is never at a loss for friends. Her personality is very fun and carefree; she is perfectly willing to travel around from place to place and meet new people every time. One of the first things anyone realizes about Adrienne is how much she likes to flirt. She finds it highly amusing and does it whenever and wherever she can, which some like and others curse her for.
Her favorite clothes are a plain blue gown and a pair of sturdy shoes, easy to move in. Always carried with her is an intricately carved harp, Adrienne’s pride and joy. She can play beautifully and has the ability to hold audiences spellbound with a few notes of her instrument accompanied with her musical voice. Everywhere she goes Adrienne brings along her cheery disposition, making her a favorite of those who only want a friendly companion and a ready laugh.

Background:
Adrienne is the daughter of a Human prostitute named Agnala and her Elven lover, Silverleaf Halfmoon. Agnala worked in one of the larger and classier brothels in a big city, and she was one of the more sought-after girls since she was very beautiful. The woman met Silverleaf one stormy night when the Elf stumbled into the brothel, thinking it was an inn because of the sophisticated and welcoming look of the place. Needless to say the residents of the ‘inn’ were very hospitable to the Elf, excited to get a glimpse of such a rare and exotic race. He showed little interest in any of them, however. Agnala turned her nose up at the stranger at first, used to having men fall at her feet every moment. The storm raged long and hard, though, and the handsome Elf did not leave. She grew to respect him for his traditional Elven beliefs, and love him for his intelligence and gentleness. Silverleaf admitted that he had admired her ever since he saw her, but his Elven skill of hiding his emotions completely had prevented anyone from seeing it. Since no customers could make their way to the brothel in such terrible weather Agnala and Silverleaf were left in peace for awhile and were supremely happy. Eventually, though, the wind stopped howling and the rain died away. Agnala had decided over the long confinement that she would leave her former home as soon as she could with Silverleaf. More than anything she wanted to marry him and live a respectable life as his wife and mother of his children. Unfortunately one of the other girls got wind of this and, jealous of Agnala because of Silverleaf’s love for her, told the Mistress about it. The old woman was frightened of loosing her most profitable lady and quickly devised a plan to get rid of the troublesome Elf. That night Agnala fell fast asleep – they had put some powder in her nightly wine – and a pair of assassins carefully and quietly disposed of Silverleaf as they slept, tossing his body out into the river. In the morning Agnala panicked, wondering where he had gone, but the Mistress told her he had left early to avoid having to marry her. Agnala was heartbroken and never was the same again.
Nine months later Adrienne was born. Agnala gave her Silverleaf’s clan name – Halfmoon, but decided against marking the girl as an Elf with a traditional name. So she decided on Adrienne, a simple country name. The child grew up in the brothel and was unusually happy. She was surrounded by doting women from the day of her birth and had plenty of friends to play with. Had Agnala been a little less determined her daughter might well have grown up to follow exactly in her mother’s footsteps and get her own room in the brothel, but Agnala had decided that her little girl would amount to something more than just a common prostitute. Using her earnings the woman bought Adrienne lessons in music and dancing, and a private governess to teach her proper etiquette, and to read and write. She was careful, too, to allow Adrienne plenty of time to improve her own natural musical gifts. As Adrienne grew older she discovered, as she had been too innocent to notice before, that she did not live in a typical household. She was very curious about what went on in the upstairs rooms and being a shameless little thing one day at dinner she just asked. The ladies laughed and told her she was too young to know, but as she grew older they considered it an important part of her education. The ladies happily taught her all their secrets, including which herbs are useful to prevent the development unwanted babies – which Adrienne uses religiously - and others to relieve aches and cramps. To Agnala’s dismay Adrienne was delighted with her new discoveries and was the first one down to take her pick of the nightly customers, although she had too much fun to think of charging them anything for her attentions. At last, when she was sixteen, the Mistress began to notice.
"If Adrienne is going to stay," she said crossly, "She will have to get her own room and do things the right way like all the other girls. No more of this nonchalant rolling in the hay; I’m trying to run a business!"
So Agnala quietly took her daughter aside and told her the story of her birth, and her plan for her. Adrienne didn’t want to go at first, protesting hotly and crying. How could she leave the only home she had ever known? Eventually, though, she began to see the truth in what her mother said. Slowly she started gathering her things so the Mistress wouldn’t notice and slipped away one night, never to return.
Adrienne traveled from town to town, playing her harp for money and staying in inns. She loves her carefree life, hardly ever thinking about the possibility of growing older and wanting to settle down. She has never forgotten her roots or the ladies of the brothel and as a result tries hard to make friends with any prostitutes she meets, considering them kindred spirits.
